life in and around a Vancouver suburb
A story in today’s Province recounts an incident in Langley under the headline ‘Racist attack ruins tennis game’. The story details are slightly sketchy to say the least. You be the judge…
Six (count ‘em…six!) Indo-Canadian men in their 20′s were playing tennis at Jackman Park on 32nd Avenue just after 7:30pm when they were approached by three (count ‘em…three!) young men and a woman who proceeded to shout racial slurs. One of the young men (let’s refer to these future blights on society as the ‘attackers’) began kicking down a fence adjacent to the tennis court then headed back wielding the fence boards and a metal bar as weapons. The tennis players barricaded themselves inside the court but the attackers forced their way in and cornered them. One of the suspects then hurled the fence board at the group, hitting one of the men in the head.
So, you’re probably thinking the victims are small and defenseless, right? Wrong! They were described as …”big guys, they outnumbered them (the attackers), but they didn’t retaliate at all” according to resident Darlene Griscowski. Did I mention that the attackers were aged 15, 16 and the woman was 18? The fourth attacker is a 19-year old Surrey man. Let’s do the math…SIX muscular, athletic men in their 20′s barricade themselves inside a tennis court for protection against three teenagers and an 18 year old woman?? Langley Township Mayor Rick Green was ‘shocked’ by the attack and was also quoted in the paper as saying “I was devastated”. Devastated? I’m guessing that Mr. Green was also ‘devastated’ when Kris Green beat Adam Lambert in the recent American Idol finals.
There’s more to this story than this and I’m curious to hear what REALLY happened at the tennis courts in Aldergrove. Stay tuned.
Once again we have another refugee hiding in a church basement and thumbing their nose at our immigration system. Mikkhail Lennikov, a former member of the former Soviet Union’s notorious KGB has settled in to his new digs in an East Vancouver church to wait out his extradition order. And once again our government refuses to enter the church and drag his butt to the closest airport. Canada will give up one of its own to the U.S. government for selling marijuana seeds to Americans but we can’t remove an undesirable from a church. Where’s the logic?
Here’s a few facts from Lennikov’s immigration and refugee hearing that some may not be aware of:
On the other hand, Marc Emery, our resident political pot activist and online seed salesman, has given up his extradition fight and will be sent to the U.S. to face the music and is expected to receive a six to eight year sentence. Canada will drag its feet when it comes to removing illegal and undesirable immigrants from our soil but will dutifully hand over a Canadian citizen for selling marijuana seeds in their own country. I don’t smoke pot and don’t condone it’s abuse any more than alcohol but I find Mr. Emery’s situation absolutely mind boggling. The next generation will look back at this stuff and shake their collective heads.
Remember paralyzed refugee claimant Laibar Singh who ended his stay in a local Indian temple after being abandoned by his supporters? He finally left after entering this country illegally but his departure had little or nothing to do with pressure from our government and lots to do with the dwindling support from those who originally demonstrated and screamed about human rights in his name. It’s funny how it all changes when the bills start rolling in and none of the supporters want to pay for his care during his uninvited stay in our country. The taxpayers paid for the majority of his excellent medical care during his stay (I still don’t understand why!!) but I’m guessing that he was close to being tossed out and decided it would be more comfy back home without all the fuss.
The frustration with the Singh case was that Canada didn’t initiate his departure. His alleged supporters were the ones to pull the plug. Now we’ll have to go through the same expensive process and have a number of government bureaucrats bumble through the motions until Mr. Lennikov gets tired of living in a church and leaves under his own accord or is asked to leave by the church parishioners. He’s whining about leaving his family but I wonder why his wife and son don’t accompany him back to Russia rather than stay in Canada. Wouldn’t most families stay together rather than abandon their spouse or child if one was no longer able to stay in the country? And I find it ironic that an ex-KGB agent is hiding behind the church for protection, which proves the adage ‘There’s no atheists in foxholes‘. Wasn’t the KGB a bit hard on religious church types during his tenure?
I’ll be happy to see the end of Mr. Lennikov and others like him and hope our government finally steps up and stops these idiotic refugees from taking advantage of our system. Until we can start throwing these freeloaders and undesirables out of our country we should change the name of our country from Canada to Can’tada.
In another blatant waste of our tax dollars, the Olympic boneheads in charge of medical services during the games are hosting 48 doctors for a two day training exercise in Vancouver. Jenn and Joe reported that animal tracheas were shipped to Vancouver for doctors use during surgical technique demonstrations. This latest waste of money and resources is disgusting on so many levels. It’s ironic that the event is taking place in a province suffering from a critical shortage of doctors. But that’s another rant.
According to Canada.com…
“We’ll have a video from Vancouver 2010 showing a scene of the track and a sled coming down,” said Dr. Julia Alleyne, Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine course director. “At the point of the crash, the video stops and the curtains open on the dramatization.” The exercise uses actors who have been trained to play the roles of the injured.
Injuries will include blocked airways, a heart attack, two athletes trapped in a bobsled with spinal injuries and a course official with ice burns. There will even be someone impersonating a journalist there for doctors to deal with. The course will end with a live triage exercise.
Curtains? Actors? Someone impersonating a journalist?? WTF??? Have the persons responsible for spending our hard earned tax dollars gone completely insane? Wouldn’t these injuries be standard procedure for any qualified emergency room doctor? Why do we need to pull 48 doctors away from their practices for 2 days to play silly games conceived by dim witted bureaucrats intent on spending every last dime allocated by other dim witted bureaucrats? No wonder I cringe every time I hear the words 2010 Olympics.
Our very own Governor General Michaelle Jean ate a slice of the heart of a newly slaughtered seal during a visit to Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. This proves two things to me: 1) Michaelle Jean is an insensitive bitch and 2) We don’t need this idiot pulling a stunt in the name of her support for Inuit seal hunters.
You can probably guess that I don’t support the seal hunt and think this occupation should have disappeared with lamplighters and draymen. Does anyone really need to buy a coat made from the skins of dead seals with all the advancements in synthetic fur? And does the Queen’s representative need to support such a draconian tradition by eating the heart of an innocent animal? Disgusting to say the least. May I suggest she kill her pet upon returning home and eat its heart? That may help her realize most people’s revulsion with her performance in Nunavut. The position of Governor General is a waste of taxpayers money to begin with and Michaelle Jean drives that point home every time she does something like this.
